Intern Spotlight: Balakmen Suting

Smart Village Movement, October 3, 2023

We are delighted to introduce Balakmen Suting, a student graduating from the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. Balakmen joined our team at Smart Village Movement as an intern and made significant contributions.

Balakmen’s SVM internship study project is titled “A Study on Out-of-Pocket Expenses of Villagers of East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya: Influence of Centre Deployment Programme by Smart Village Movement.” This research sheds light on the healthcare expenses of rural communities and the impact of our Healthcare Programme in the region.

Balakmen’s Insights:

Reflecting on his internship experience, Balakmen shares, “Working alongside the dedicated and humble team at SVM – Meghalaya has truly been an enriching and enlightening experience. Having my suggestions valued and considered has greatly enhanced my professional growth and knowledge. One of the standout qualities I’ve discovered and embraced during my time at SVM is the genuine humility demonstrated by all its members. The Triple-Helix model, which fosters collaboration among government, academia, businesses, and other stakeholders, stands as a shining example of collective efforts aimed at the betterment of our community.”

Balakmen’s dedication and research work have added depth to our understanding of the challenges faced by rural villagers and the positive impact of our initiatives.
