Dear SVM Friends & Supporters, This August, we’re excited to share some significant strides in our mission to drive sustainable development across rural India. First, we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Eco-Ri for waste management. Together, we’re launching innovative solutions that will transform waste into resources, fostering a circular economy in the communities we serve. In another exciting development, our SVM-Clearbot initiative in water sanitation is expanding its robotic boat cleaning operations to the Kolkata waterways, thanks to a CSR partnership with Willowood Chemicals Company. This expansion will enhance our efforts to keep India’s rivers and lakes clean, leveraging cutting-edge technology for environmental conservation. Lastly, our team had the opportunity to participate in the APO Workshop on “Sufficiency Economy” in Thailand. We’re eager to apply these new concepts in our agriculture sector, furthering our commitment to sustainable and resilient rural development. Check out our latest blog to learn more about the sufficiency economy and how it can transform agriculture. AI Robotic Boat Cleaning Kolkata Waterways
Celebrating a new chapter! Smart Village Movement-Clearbot partnership expands to Kolkata waterways with AI robotic boat cleaning. This is thanks to a collaborative CSR partnership with Willowood Chemical company, which put its community’s needs first in promoting a sustainable future for the city’s waterways. Our lakes and rivers, both in urban and tourist rural areas, are severely clogged by floating waste. We invite other CSR Foundations across India to consider implementing this important initiative to restore a healthy ecosystem. Smart Village Movement and Eco-Ri: Pioneering a Cleaner, Greener Future for Rural India.
Smart Village Movement (SVM), in partnership with Eco-Ri, is launching a groundbreaking Waste Collection and Segregation Unit that not only addresses the critical issue of plastic waste in rural areas but also promotes a sustainable, circular economy. We are thrilled to announce the official inauguration of our Eco-Ri Waste Collection and Segregation Unit, which took place on July 31, 2024, in Mawdun. This milestone is a key component of our pilot project to rejuvenate Umiam Lake. By creating integrated, end-to-end solutions, SVM ensures that plastic waste is effectively collected, segregated, and processed, transforming it into valuable resources. This initiative exemplifies SVM’s commitment to empowering rural communities with sustainable practices that not only reduce environmental impact but also generate economic opportunities, closing the loop on waste and fostering a greener future for India. We are pleased to share that Ms. Mebalaaihun, our Agri Vertical lead from the Smart Village Movement (SVM) and India, recently participated in an international workshop titled “Multicountry Observational Study Mission on Implementing the Sufficiency Economy Theory to Sustain Community Development.” The Asian Productivity Organization organized this workshop with the Thailand Productivity Institute in Thailand from July 31st to August 2nd, 2024. Our representative engaged in site visits to key locations such as the Khao Hin Sorn Royal Development Study Centre, Chitralada Technology Institute, and Kubota Farms. These visits provided valuable insights into the Sufficiency Economy Theory (SEP), which emphasizes a step-by-step approach to sustainable development, starting at the household level and extending to the community and national levels. Smart Village Movement Partners with NEOSAN to Transform Waste Management for a More Sustainable Future
We are excited to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between Smart Village Movement (SVM) and NEOSAN, formalized through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This innovative partnership is set to address critical waste management challenges in schools, healthcare facilities, rivers, lakes, and public spaces in rural India. NEOSAN, a leader in eco-friendly waste management, was founded with the mission to decarbonize polluting industries through its patented induction technology. Their expertise perfectly complements SVM’s commitment to sustainable development, aligning with global goals such as clean water, sanitation, and climate action. The technology ensures RUHT(Rapid Ultra High Temperature) incineration of non-recyclable waste, reaching temperatures of 1200°C within 90 seconds and reducing emissions by 98% when compared to the Indian government’s standards for waste incineration. The technology uses less than ₹1 of electricity per kilo of waste handled and can be powered by renewable sources without the need for any fossil fuels. READ MORE |

Blog: Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and Its Practical Application
The concept of sustainable development has been a topic of global discourse for decades, but few approaches offer as holistic and practical a framework as Thailand’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP). Rooted in the wisdom of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, SEP is more than just an economic theory; it is a comprehensive guide to balanced and sustainable living that has proven its worth in various sectors of society. Understanding Sufficiency Economy Philosophy The Sufficiency Economy Philosophy is a framework that emphasizes moderation, responsible consumption, and resilience. It is grounded in the principle of self-reliance, encouraging individuals and communities to live within their means while maintaining harmony with nature. SEP advocates for a balanced approach to development, considering not only economic progress but also the well-being of people and the environment.READ MORE |
