The Challenge

Lack of Reliable Power Supply
Villages in Meghalaya and most of rural India still by far have a large number of households without electricity, or lack reliable supply, experiencing power cuts almost daily. One of the crucial elements in the development of any region and the process of building Smart Villages is connectivity and reliable power.
Households living in villages with unreliable electricity supply question payment of a minimum monthly charge for a service that comes on and off during the evening hours, when electricity is needed most.

The Smart Village Solution

Create solar energy microgrids in partnership with Hygge Energy, a company creating renewable energy solutions for communities globally. This reduces energy prices for consumers, improves utility returns, and increases ROI for solar power storage and other local generation owners.

With the Smart Village Movement, the Salesforce Trailblazer Lab in Sohrarim, has become the first demonstration of Hygge Energy’s microgrid pilot. The lab is going to act as a demonstration for peer-to-peer sharing of solar energy. Fixed solar panel systems can provide power to around 20 computers with 12 kw battery power.
