In a significant step toward advancing STEM education, Smart Village Movement (SVM) Project STEM Trainer Chonsram Sangma and Pascaleo Kharmuti STEM mobiliser participated in an intensive three-day training at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune from February 26 to February 28, 2025,. Hosted at IISER’s cutting-edge campus, the program reinforced our mission to bring hands-on STEM learning—robotics, 3D printing, and electronics—to rural students across Meghalaya.
Through workshops led by IISER’s expert faculty, our team explored innovative teaching methods, lab-based pedagogies, and prototype development, ensuring real-world applications for rural classrooms. This training further strengthens our STEM Education Lab initiative launched with NECTAR, equipping 100 schools in Meghalaya with tools for a tech-driven future.
Their trip followed their vibrant participation in National Science Day on February 28, 2025, when India celebrated C.V. Raman’s discovery of the Raman Effect under the theme “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” setting the stage for this transformative experience.
We are excited to bring these insights back to the field! A big thank you to IISER Pune for their hospitality and expertise and to our dedicated team for their commitment to transforming rural education. Stay tuned as we continue fueling the next generation of innovators in the Northeast!
