Eco-Ri Waste Collection and Segregation Unit
Smart Village Movement (SVM), in partnership with Eco-Ri, is launching a groundbreaking Waste Collection and Segregation Unit that not only addresses the critical issue of plastic waste in rural areas but also promotes a sustainable, circular economy. We are thrilled to announce the official inauguration of our Eco-Ri Waste Collection and Segregation Unit, which took place on July 31, 2024, in Mawdun.
This milestone is a key component of our pilot project to rejuvenate Umiam Lake. By creating integrated, end-to-end solutions, SVM ensures that plastic waste is effectively collected, segregated, and processed, transforming it into valuable resources. This initiative exemplifies SVM’s commitment to empowering rural communities with sustainable practices that not only reduce environmental impact but also generate economic opportunities, closing the loop on waste and fostering a greener future for India.
Our innovative approach features an AI-powered robotic boat from Clearbot to collect waste, which is then processed at this newly launched waste management facility.

ECO-Ri, our new partner, enhances the project’s impact by transforming waste into valuable products and properly manage other waste which are difficult to recycle. This project represents a collaborative effort between Smart Village Movement (SVM), ECO-Ri, Clearbot, and our funding partner, Meghalayan Age Limited. The launch event was a memorable occasion, attended by the PRIME Entrepreneurship Meghalaya team, representatives from SVM, ECO-Ri and Clearbot, and members of the Mawdun village.
A special shoutout to Pynshai Marpna, who leads the Infra and Sustainability Vertical at SVM and initiated this project, and to the people of Mawdun for their enthusiastic support.

In the face of growing plastic pollution, ECO-Ri offers a proactive solution by transforming plastic waste into valuable products like home décor and furniture. Their approach turns plastic from a problem into a resource, empowering individuals to positively impact the environment. The launch of the ECO-Ri shed, from a local startup dedicated to waste segregation and recycling, is a testament to our collective efforts to restore Umiam Lake to its former beauty.
Together, we’re making a meaningful impact on environmental conservation. Thank you to everyone involved for supporting this important cause!
